Inflation 2.1 per cent in November

The year-on-year change in consumer prices, i.e. inflation, calculated by Statistics Finland was 2.1 per cent in November. In October it stood at 1.8 per cent. The increase in the rate of inflation was due to the slowing down of the fall in fuel prices.

During the year, consumer prices were pushed up most by risen interest rates and higher prices of dwellings. Increases in the prices of food, risen restaurant and café prices as well as higher prices of electricity and higher rents also had an impact on inflation. Inflation was curbed most by reductions in the prices of entertainment electronics and home computers from the year before.

From October to November, consumer prices remained unchanged on average.

Each mid-month, Statistics Finland interviewers collect around 60,000 prices on 497 commodities from approximately 3,500 outlets for the Consumer Price Index. In addition, some 1,000 items of price data are gathered by centralised collection.
