Quarterly volume of goods transported by lorries in domestic transport
The total transport volume of lorries amounted to 6.3 billion tonne-kilometres in the third quarter of 2018, which was 10 per cent less than in the corresponding quarter of one year before. Ninety-five per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and five per cent in private transport.
The data for the statistics on goods transport by road are collected from lorry owners with a quarterly sample survey. Transported volume of goods refers to the weight of goods loaded on lorries in tonnes. Tonne-kilometre describes the volume of transport and is obtained as a product of transported volume of goods and length of transport journey.
