These data derive from the statistics on goods transport by road compiled by Statistics Finland.
Quarterly volume of goods transported by lorries in domestic transport
In the first quarter of 2019, the total transport volume of lorries amounted to 6.5 billion tonne-kilometres, which was four per cent lower than in the corresponding period one year earlier. Ninety-six per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and four per cent in private transport.
The data for the statistics on goods transport by road are collected from lorry owners with a quarterly sample survey. Transported volume of goods refers to the weight of goods loaded on lorries in tonnes. Tonne-kilometre describes the volume of transport and is obtained as a product of transported volume of goods and length of transport journey.
