Vehicle stock grew by 3,9 per cent in 2011
At the end of 2011, the Finnish vehicle register contained 5,539,322 vehicles, of which 3,494,357 were automobiles. Automobiles accounted for 63.1 per cent of all registered vehicles. The total number of vehicles grew by 3.9 per cent and that of automobiles by 3.7 per cent from the year-end situation of 2010. These data, complied by Statistics Finland, are based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency and the vehicle register of Ålands Motorfordonsbyrå. At the end of 2011, the vehicle register of Åland Islands contained around 40,000 vehicles.
At year-end 2011, there were 2,978,729 registered passenger cars in Finland. The stock of passenger cars grew by 3.5 per cent during the year. Examined by region, the growth in the number of passenger cars was largest, or 4.8 per cent, in Åland and smallest, or 2.6 per cent, in Kymenlaakso.The whole country considered, the biggest relative increases in numbers of registrations were recorded for mopeds (up by 7.3 %) and motordriven working machines (6.0 %).
