Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased in July

In July 2009, building permits were granted for a total of 1.6 million cubic metres, which is good one-quarter less than one year earlier. Cubic volumes decreased for almost all building types apart from residential buildings. Building permits were granted for a clearly larger number of dwellings in blocks of flats than in the year before whereas fewer building permits were granted for detached houses than in July twelve months ago.

In January to July 2009, new building permits were granted for a total of 22 million cubic metres, which is about one-quarter less than in the corresponding period last year. Cubic volumes went down for all building types apart from agricultural buildings.
