Road traffic accidents claimed 24 lives in April
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 349 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in April. In them, 24 persons were killed and 444 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 5 higher and that of persons injured 74 lower than in April 2009.

Of the persons who were killed, 16 travelled by passenger car and 3 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 3 and cyclists 2. Among those who died, 19 were men and 5 were women.
A total of 1 317 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to April period. In them, 70 persons were killed and 1 744 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 3 lower and that of persons injured 163 lower than in the corresponding period of 2009. Of the person who were killed, 47 travelled by passenger car, 1 by lorry, 3 by van, 3 by motorcycle and 1 by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 9 and cyclists 3. In addition, 3 other road users were killed.
