Road traffic accidents claimed 23 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 693 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 23 persons were killed and 854 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 3 lower and that of persons injured 69 higher than in June 2009.

Of the persons who were killed, 10 travelled by passenger car, 2 by motorcycle and 3 by moped. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 3 and cyclists 4. In addition, 1 other road user was killed. Among those who died, 21 were men and 2 were women.
A total of 2,574 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to June period. In them, 119 persons were killed and 3,294 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 12 lower and that of persons injured 235 lower than in the corresponding period of 2009. Of the person who were killed, 69 travelled by passenger car, 3 by lorry, 3 by van, 7 by motorcycle and 5 by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 16 and cyclists 10. In addition, 6 other road users were killed.
