Road traffic accidents claimed 29 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 558 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 29 persons were killed and 697 persons injured. The number of persons killed was five higher and that of persons injured 59 higher than in June 2012.

Of the persons who were killed, 21 travelled by passenger car, one by van and five by motorcycle. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 23 were men and six were women.
A total of 2,209 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to June period. In them, 120 persons were killed and 2,796 persons injured. The number of persons killed was eight lower and that of persons injured 209 lower than in the corresponding period of 2012. Of the persons who were killed, 77 travelled by passenger car, four by van, three by lorry, 12 by motorcycle and one by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered nine and cyclists nine. In addition, five other road users were killed.
