Road traffic accidents claimed 13 lives in February

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 288 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February. In them, 13 persons were killed and 392 persons injured. The number of persons killed was seven higher and that of persons injured 50 higher than in February 2013.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, ten were men and three were women.

A total of 631 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to February period. In them, 27 persons were killed and 809 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two higher and that of persons injured 55 higher than in the corresponding period of 2013. Of the persons who were killed, 21 travelled by passenger car and two by van. Pedestrians killed numbered three. In addition, one other road user was killed.
