Road traffic accidents claimed 25 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 444 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 25 persons were killed and 544 persons injured. The number of persons killed was four lower and that of persons injured 153 lower than in June 2013.

Of the persons who were killed, ten travelled by passenger car, two by van, one by lorry and five by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one and cyclists four. In addition, two other road users were killed. Among those who died, 21 were men and four were women.
A total of 2,259 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to June period. In them, 96 persons were killed and 2,818 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 24 lower and that of persons injured 22 higher than in the corresponding period of 2013. Of the persons who were killed, 52 travelled by passenger car, five by van, one by lorry, six by motorcycle and two by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 12 and cyclists 13. In addition, five other road users were killed.
