Road traffic accidents claimed 18 lives in October
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 432 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in October. In them, 18 persons were killed and 532 persons injured. The number of persons killed was five higher and that of persons injured 75 lower than in October 2013.

Of the persons who were killed, 14 travelled by passenger car and one by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 13 were men and five were women.
A total of 4,406 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to October period. In them, 182 persons were killed and 5,532 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 26 lower and that of persons injured 11 higher than in the corresponding period of 2013. Of the persons who were killed, 100 travelled by passenger car, nine by van, three by lorry, 16 by motorcycle and two by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 23 and cyclists 21. In addition, eight other road users were killed.
