Road traffic accidents claimed 15 lives in December
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 348 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December. In them, 15 persons were killed and 476 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two lower and that of persons injured 78 lower than in December 2015.

Of the persons who were killed, six travelled by passenger car, three by van, one by moped and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered three and cyclists one. Among those who died 12 were men and three were women.
A total of 4,709 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to December period. In them, 240 persons were killed and 5,881 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 17 lower and that of persons injured 492 lower than in the corresponding period of 2015. Of the persons who were killed, 145 travelled by passenger car, 13 by van, five by moped, 16 by motorcycle and five by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 27 and cyclists 19. In addition, 10 other road users were killed.
