Road traffic accidents claimed 22 lives in July
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 435 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July. In them, 22 persons were killed and 536 persons injured. The number of persons killed was six lower and that of persons injured 46 lower than in July 2016.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car and four by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one and cyclists four. In addition, two other road users were killed. Among those who died, 14 were men and eight were women.
A total of 2,419 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period. In them, 131 persons were killed and 3,057 persons injured. The number of persons killed was nine lower and that of persons injured 166 lower than in the corresponding period of 2016. Of the persons who were killed, 79 travelled by passenger car, six by van, two by moped, seven by motorcycle and four by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists nine. In addition, nine other road users were killed.
