Road traffic accidents claimed 21 lives in July
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 389 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July. In them, 21 persons were killed and 513 persons injured. The number of persons killed was four lower and that of persons injured 76 lower than in July 2018. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, nine travelled by passenger car, two by van, one by moped and four by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists three. Among those who died, 18 were men and three were women.
A total of 2,160 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period. In them, 122 persons were killed and 2,775 persons injured. The number of persons killed was eight higher and that of persons injured 253 lower than in the corresponding period of 2018. Of the persons who were killed, 72 travelled by passenger car, six by van, three by moped, 14 by motorcycle and three by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered eight and cyclists 13. In addition, three other road users were killed.
