In June industrial output was on level with the year before

In June, seasonally adjusted industrial output was on level with the corresponding period of last year. In January to June, industrial output was nearly one per cent higher than last year. The volume index of industrial output describes development in the volume of the industrial output of establishments located in Finland. The preliminary data are based on a sample comprised of roughly 1,000 of the largest establishments within their respective industries.

Output grew in several main industries in June. Output increased most in the metal industry, up by 5 per cent. The manufacture of electronic and electrical products grew by 2.5 per cent. Output in other manufacturing also increased by good 2 per cent. Output diminished most in the chemical industry, by good 7 per cent.

Industrial output went up by 0.4 per cent in June from May

According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.4 per cent higher in June 2007 than in May.

Revised data for June 2007 will be published at 9 am on 31 August 2007 in connection with the industrial output data for July 2007. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised. The seasonally adjusted figures will also be adjusted for working days. The data for June may also become revised because, owing to summer holidays, more establishments than usual are missing.

In connection with the publication for June, the heading-specific weight structure of the establishments was also updated. From now on, the values for 2006 will be used as heading-specific value weights. For this reason the point figures and change percentages for the early part of the year may have changed.
