Trust in public administration
Description of the data collection
In August 2020, on assignment of the Finnish Government and the OECD, Statistics Finland will carry out an international inquiry, which measures citizens' trust in public institutions during the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis. The inquiry is carried out appended to the Consumer Confidence Survey.
The Consumer Confidence Survey is a survey made with a web questionnaire and by telephone interviews, which measures consumers’ confidence in the economy, that is, views and expectations about the development of their own economy and of Finland’s general economic situation. The target area is the whole country and the respondents of the survey represent the population aged 18 to 74 in Finland with regard to age, gender, area of residence and native language. The collection of data is made in Finnish, Swedish and English.
Statistical data used in international comparisons are formed based on the responses. It is important to include the answers from as many persons as possible selected to the sample to represent all people living in Finland in order for the survey to be successful.
An accompanying letter containing information about the survey is sent to all target persons in advance. Those not having answered with the web form will be interviewed by telephone by Statistics Finland's statistical interviewer.
