Statistics Finland's co-operation negotiations have ended

Statistics Finland's co-operation negotiations that began in December 2014 have ended. As a result of these negotiations, Statistics Finland considers at most the dismissal of 21 employees. At the start of the negotiations, the need for redundancies was estimated to be 45 persons.

The required personnel reductions still amount to a total of 70 staff years. A majority of these reductions can be reached through pension arrangements and voluntary arrangements, like exchanging holiday bonuses for time off. As a result of the negotiations, Statistics Finland considers at most the dismissal of 21 employees. The final number of personnel cuts and their allocation will be established during March 2015.

The co-operation negotiations are based on the financing of Statistics Finland's operations tightening considerably from 2014. The saving actions related to various activities that have already been implemented, like discontinuations of statistics, are not sufficient to fill the financing gap.
