Statistics help to understand society

The producers of the Official Statistics of Finland have together defined their vision, tasks and strategic development objectives for the years 2021 to 2023. Statistics Finland's Director General Marjo Bruun has confirmed the development strategy for the statistical ecosystem.

The producers of statistics want to highlight the value and significance of statistics in society, promote the use of data, deepen partnerships and ensure good quality.

“We want to continue to offer key statistics and data materials in society in a high-quality and efficient manner. Statistics help to understand social phenomena and change,” says Chair of the Advisory Board of Official Statistics of Finland, Deputy Director General Ville Vertanen from Statistics Finland.

The development strategy has been compiled by hearing stakeholders and customers and taking into consideration the operating environment.

The statistical ecosystem is a national network of producers of official statistics that includes, besides Statistics Finland, other central authorities producing statistics. The Advisory Board of Official Statistics of Finland acts as a joint forum for authorities producing statistics, where the production of statistics is coordinated and developed together. The Board has been functioning since 2002.

The Official Statistics of Finland are produced by Statistics Finland, the Natural Resources Institute Finland, Finnish Customs, the National Institute for Health and Welfare, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, the National Land Survey of Finland, the Finnish Immigration Service, the Finnish Environment Institute, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, the Finnish Centre for Pensions, and the Social Insurance Institution of Finland.

The development strategy for the statistical ecosystem can be found in Statistics Finland's web service.
