Around the same number of open job vacancies in the third quarter of 2022 as one year earlier
According to Statistics Finland, there were 59,000 open job vacancies in the third quarter of 2022, while the figure was 62,400 one year before. These data describe the situation on the first day of September.

- In the third quarter, open job vacancies decreased slightly from one year ago in the major regions of Western Finland and Southern Finland (excl. Helsinki-Uusimaa).

Characteristics of job vacancies
In the third quarter of 2022, altogether 76 per cent or 45,100 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. Open job vacancies decreased slightly in the private sector compared to one year earlier. The number of open job vacancies decreased in Western Finland (-3,200) and Southern Finland (-1,900) and grew or remained more or less unchanged in other major regions. Examined by the industry of the establishment, changes to one year earlier were small, but job vacancies decreased slightly in the industry group of professional, scientific and technical activities, and administrative and support service activities (M to N).

In the third quarter, 22 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, which was six percentage points lower than in the corresponding period of the year before. Seventeen per cent of all open job vacancies were part-time positions, while one year earlier the corresponding share was 18 per cent.
Employers estimated that 64 per cent of the open job vacancies were hard-to-fill, while the corresponding share was 67 per cent one year earlier. For example, there were still plenty of jobs considered hard to fill in establishments of human health and social work activities (Q) in the tasks of practical nurses and registered nurses.
