Amount of municipal waste remained on level with the previous year in 2021 – an increasing share of waste was recovered as energy

release | Waste statistics 2021According to Statistics Finland, in 2021, around 3.3 million tonnes of municipal waste were generated. Compared to the previous year, the total amount of waste remained unchanged. As in previous years, the increase in the amount of energy-recovered waste was visible in the mutual shares of waste treatment methods. The amount of waste corresponded to around 609 kg calculated per inhabitant.
