Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased further in the second quarter of 2022

According to Statistics Finland, building permits were granted for 10.2 million cubic metres in the second quarter of 2022, which was 35 per cent less than one year ago. Building projects totalling 11.9 million cubic metres were started, 12 per cent down from one year earlier. During the first six months of 2022, building permits were granted for a total of 19.2 million cubic metres and building projects totalling 20 million cubic metres were started.

Volume of construction still growing

In April to June 2022, the constant-price value or the volume of ongoing building production increased by five per cent year-on-year. The volume of residential building construction increased by 10 per cent and that of other than residential building construction by one per cent from one year earlier.
