Birth rate of persons with foreign background higher than that of persons with Finnish background for both men and women

According to Statistics Finland, the total fertility rate of men and women with foreign background was higher than the corresponding figures of men and women with Finnish background in 2021.

The bar chart shows men's and women's total fertility rates in 2021 by origin. For both men and women, the highest total fertility rate is found among persons of foreign background born abroad and the second highest among all persons of foreign background. The total fertility rate of both men and women of Finnish background is lowest, for men of Finnish background it is 1.29 children per man and for women of Finnish background 1.43 children per woman.
