The rise in the export price index was particularly due to higher prices of oil products, basic metals, chemicals and chemical products from last year's May. The rise in the import price index was, in turn, especially attributable to increases in the prices of crude oil, oil products, chemicals and chemical products.

From April to May, producer prices for manufactured goods went up by 4.4 per cent. Producer prices were particularly boosted by the risen prices of electricity and oil products compared with the previous month.
