Turnover in industry grew by 21.3 per cent in September 2022

Turnover grew in all main industries

Adjusted for working days, turnover grew in September in all main manufacturing industries. The growth was strongest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, up by 60.5 per cent from one year back. In the chemical industry, turnover grew by 32.0 per cent from one year ago. The growth in the turnover of the industries was partly due to risen prices. In the forest industry, turnover grew by 20.4 per cent and in the metal industry by 12.4 per cent. Turnover grew most moderately in mining and quarrying, by 7.4 per cent from one year ago.

Export turnover grew in September in nearly all main industries

Export turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in September in nearly all main industries. Export turnover grew most in the textile industry, by 28.5 per cent, and in the forest industry, by 27.5 per cent from one year ago. The growth amounted to 11.6 per cent in the metal industry. Among the main industries, export turnover decreased only in mining and quarrying and was 7.0 per cent lower than one year earlier.

Domestic turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in September in all main industries. Domestic turnover grew strongest in the chemical industry, by 47.5 per cent, and in mining and quarrying, by 27.4 per cent from one year ago. Domestic turnover in the metal industry grew by 13.9 per cent year-on-year. Growth in domestic turnover was more moderate in the forest industry, up by 7.0 per cent from the previous year.

Turnover decreased from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 0.7 per cent in September 2022 compared to August. In August, turnover grew by 1.1 per cent and in July by 1.4 per cent compared to the month before.
