Road traffic accidents claimed 8 lives in December 2022
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 218 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December 2022. In them, 8 persons were killed and 295 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three lower and that of persons injured 14 higher than in December 2021. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to December
A total of 3,060 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to December period of 2022. In them, 189 persons were killed and 3,779 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 36 lower and that of persons injured 83 lower than in the corresponding period of 2021. Of the persons who were killed, 117 travelled by passenger car, two by van, one by moped, 21 by motorcycle and three by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 24 and cyclists 18. In addition, three other road users were killed.
