Road traffic accidents claimed 18 lives in July 2023

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 273 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July 2023. In them, 18 persons were killed and 356 persons injured. The number of persons killed was nine lower and that of persons injured 104 lower than in July 2022. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to July
A total of 1,535 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period of 2023. In them, 87 persons were killed and 1,922 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 15 lower and that of persons injured 206 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022. Of the persons who were killed, 43 travelled by passenger car, nine by van, one by moped and 10 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed numbered 11 and cyclists five. In addition, eight other road users were killed.
