Road traffic accidents claimed 13 lives in September 2023

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 302 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in September 2023. In them, 13 persons were killed and 359 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two lower and that of persons injured 16 higher than in September 2022. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to September

A total of 2,195 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to September period of 2023. In them, 128 persons were killed and 2,705 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 16 lower and that of persons injured 213 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022. Of the persons who were killed, 65 travelled by passenger car, 12 by van, one by moped and 16 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 10. In addition, nine other road users were killed.
