New orders in manufacturing decreased by 4.9 per cent year-on-year in February 2023
According to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 4.9 per cent lower in February 2023 than twelve months earlier. During January to February, orders decreased by 2.1 per cent from the year before.

Changes in the examined main industries
New orders decreased in February 2023 in the metal industry by 2.8 per cent from one year earlier. The value of new orders in the manufacture of paper and paper board products was 8.8 per cent lower and in the chemical industry 9.2 per cent lower than one year earlier.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
