Turnover of construction decreased by 1.0 per cent in May from one year ago

According to Statistics Finland, the working day adjusted turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 1.0 per cent in May 2023 compared to the previous year. The volume of sales, from which the impact of price changes has been eliminated, went down by 5.0 per cent. The weak development of turnover and sales volume in construction of buildings pushed total construction down.

Turnover in construction industries developed in two directions

In May 2023, working day adjusted turnover in construction of buildings fell by 8.9 per cent and sales volume by 13.3 per cent compared to one year ago. In turn, working day adjusted turnover in civil engineering increased by 11.6 per cent and sales volume by 7.3 per cent from the previous year. Turnover in specialised construction activities grew by 3.2 per cent but sales volume went down by 1.8 per cent from one year ago.

Seasonally adjusted turnover in construction increased compared to April

Seasonally adjusted turnover in construction increased by 1.5 per cent in May 2023 compared to April. Seasonally adjusted sales volume also went up by 1.5 per cent from April.
