Energy recovery of municipal waste decreased in 2022

Register data on waste were collected with a more detailed division than before, which made it possible to separate municipal waste more precisely from other waste. The effect of the change was biggest for data on energy recovery of waste. According to Statistics Finland, around 2.9 million tonnes of municipal waste were generated in 2022.
