Turnover in industry decreased by 13.8 per cent in September 2023

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased by 13.8 per cent in September 2023 from September 2022.

Turnover decreased in several main industries in September

Turnover decreased in September most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 41.5 per cent, and in the electronic and electrical industry, by 25.4 per cent from one year back. Turnover in the forest industry was 24.5 per cent lower and in the metal industry 8.0 per cent lower than one year earlier. Turnover grew in the food industry by 1.8 per cent and in mining and quarrying by 1.7 per cent from one year ago.

Export turnover diminished in several main industries in September

Export turnover decreased in several main industries in September. Export turnover went down most in the electronic and electrical industry, by 28.8 per cent, and in the forest industry, by 28.0 per cent from one year earlier. Export turnover in the metal industry decreased by 11.4 per cent. Export turnover was 9.1 per cent higher in mining and quarrying and 5.8 per cent higher in the chemical industry in September than one year earlier.

Domestic turnover decreased in nearly all main industries in September. Domestic turnover decreased most in the chemical industry and was 22.2 per cent lower than one year earlier. Domestic turnover went down by 16.5 per cent in the forest industry and by 4.6 per cent in the metal industry. Domestic turnover increased only in the food industry, by 2.8 per cent from one year ago.

Turnover grew in September from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry grew by 0.8 per cent in September 2023 compared to August. In August, turnover went down by 1.2 per cent and it was 0.4 per cent lower in July than in the previous month.
