Real estate maintenance costs rose by 3.6 % year-on-year
release | Index of real estate maintenance costs 2023, 3rd quarterAccording to Statistics Finland, real estate maintenance costs went up by 3.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the corresponding period of 2022. Of the cost items of real estate maintenance, the costs of waste management grew most, by 9.9 per cent. Water supply and sewage costs grew by 4.6 per cent, repairs by 3.4 per cent, heating by 7.0 per cent, administration by 3.6 per cent, use and maintenance by 5.0 per cent, and maintenance of outdoor areas by 5.9 per cent. Cleaning costs went up by 6.4 per cent and insurance against loss or damage by 2.0 per cent. The costs of electricity fell by 6.2 per cent from a year ago.

Costs of residential blocks of flats rose most
Examined by type of building, the maintenance costs of residential blocks of flats rose by 4.8 per cent, those of industrial buildings by 1.2 per cent, those of office buildings by 2.8 per cent, those of wholesale and retail trade buildings by 2.3 per cent, the costs of day care centres by 3.9 per cent, those of school buildings by 3.7 per cent and those of health care centres by 3.8 per cent from one year back.
The total index of real estate maintenance fell by 1.9 per cent from the previous quarter.
Real estate tax and plot rent are not included in the index of real estate maintenance costs 2015=100.
