Road traffic accidents claimed 17 lives in July 2024

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 249 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July 2024. In them, 17 persons were killed and 304 persons injured. The number of fatalities was one lower and number of persons injured 52 lower than in July 2023. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to July

A total of 1,440 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to July period of 2024 according to preliminary data. In them, 89 persons were killed and 1,769 persons injured. The number of deaths was two higher and number of persons injured 153 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023. Of the persons who were killed, 47 travelled by passenger car, four by van, two by moped, 11 by motorcycle and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 10 and cyclists seven. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
