Road traffic accidents claimed 12 lives in October 2024
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 238 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in October 2024. In them, 12 persons were killed and 295 persons injured. The number of fatalities was five lower and number of persons injured 28 lower than in October 2023. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to October
A total of 2,302 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to October period of 2024 according to preliminary data. In them, 138 persons were killed and 2,802 persons injured. The number of deaths was 13 lower and number of persons injured 233 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023. Of the persons who were killed, 67 travelled by passenger car, five by van, five by moped, 15 by motorcycle and three by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 14 and cyclists 16. In addition, 13 other road users were killed.
