New orders in manufacturing grew by 4.1 per cent year-on-year in July 2024
According to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 4.1 per cent higher in July 2024 than twelve months earlier. During January to July, orders decreased by 6.2 per cent from the year before.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received more orders in July 2024 than twelve months earlier in the manufacture of paper and paper products and in the chemical industry. Orders increased most in the manufacture of paper and paper products, where the value of orders was 17.7 per cent higher than in the previous year. In the chemical industry, the value of new orders was 7.4 per cent higher than one year earlier. In the metal industry, new orders decreased by 1.6 per cent from the year before.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
