New orders in manufacturing decreased by 5.4 per cent year-on-year in September 2024
According to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 5.4 per cent lower in September 2024 than twelve months earlier. During January to September, new orders received by enterprises decreased by 5.9 per cent from the year before.

Changes in the examined main industries
In September 2024, enterprises received more orders than twelve months ago in the chemical industry, where the value of orders was 14.8 per cent higher than one year ago. In the other main industries, new orders decreased. In the manufacture of paper, and paper and board products, orders declined by 9.4 per cent and in the metal industry by 6.9 per cent from one year ago.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
