Growth in the number of instigated bankruptcies halted in January 2024
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, 298 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in January 2024, which is nine fewer than in January of the year before. In January, the number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,116, which is 91 staff-years fewer than in January 2023.

- During the past 12 months, the number of bankruptcies was 20 per cent higher than in the 12 months preceding this period.
- In January 2024, most bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in the industries of other services, construction and trade. In the industry of other service activities, 99 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated, in construction 67 and in trade 58.
