Vessels in the regular merchant fleet numbered 712 in February 2024

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the size of Finland's regular merchant fleet was 712 vessels in February 2024. Small vessels included 283 vessels and barges and other engineless vessels 295 vessels. The total size of the Finnish merchant fleet was 1,290 vessels with a combined gross tonnage of 2,021,524. In February 2024, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet increased by 25.

Compared to the situation at the turn of the year, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet had increased by 30 and the number of vessels in the entire combined merchant fleet by 31 by the end of February 2024.
Most of the vessels registered in the merchant fleet during the early part of the year are small vessels in terms of gross tonnage and they belong to the category other vessels, which includes, for example, tugboats, icebreakers, pusher lighters, fishing vessels and administrative vessels.
The Register of Merchant Vessels, in which vessels operating mainly in foreign traffic can be entered, contained a total of 99 vessels in February 2024.
