Vessels in the regular merchant fleet numbered 657 in September 2024
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the size of Finland's regular merchant fleet was 657 vessels in September 2024. Small vessels included 233 vessels and barges and other engineless vessels 280 vessels. The total size of the Finnish merchant fleet was 1,170 vessels with gross tonnage of 1,968,390. In September, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet decreased by 55 compared to August.

- Compared to the situation at the turn of the year, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet had decreased by 25 and the number of vessels in the entire combined merchant fleet by 89 by the end of September 2024.
- Despite the decrease in the number of vessels, the gross tonnage of the regular merchant fleet decreased only slightly compared to August.
- Starting from October 2024, a register maintenance fee will be levied from vessels in the register.
- The Register of Merchant Vessels, in which vessels operating mainly in foreign traffic can be entered, contained a total of 99 vessels in September 2024.
