Volume of transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 26 per cent in May 2024
According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic waterborne traffic was 0.3 million tonnes in May 2024. Transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 26 per cent compared to May 2023. In May 2024, domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Timber was transported most in domestic waterborne traffic in May
Timber was transported most, in total 114,899 million, which was 37 per cent of all transport. Oil products were transported next most, 105,955 tonnes, making up 34 per cent of all transport. Preliminary data on timber transport are supplemented at the end of the statistical reference year.
