Business subsidies granted amounted to EUR 1,184 million and those paid to EUR 541 million in 2023

According to Statistics Finland's data, direct business subsidies paid amounted to EUR 541 million and those granted to EUR 1,184 million in 2023. Loans granted totalled EUR 1,186 million and guarantees EUR 2,110 million. Business subsidies were received by 18,889 enterprises.

Key selections

  • Most subsidies were allocated to research, development and innovation activity, internationalisation and business activity in 2023.
  • Direct business subsidies were granted most to the metal industry and to transportation and storage.
  • Compared to the previous year, direct subsidies granted decreased by 41 per cent and subsidies paid by 44 per cent. The number of guarantees increased by 23 per cent.
