Prices of old one-dwelling houses fell by 7.6 per cent in 2023

According to Statistics Finland, prices of old single-family houses fell by 7.6 per cent in the whole country in 2023. Eighteen per cent fewer transactions of old one-dwelling houses were made than in the previous year. Prices of one-dwelling house plots fell by six per cent and transactions by 35 per cent over the year.

Key selections

  • In Greater Helsinki, prices of old one-dwelling houses fell by 9.1 per cent and in the rest of the country by 7.3 per cent during 2023.
  • Prices of old one-dwelling houses fell most in Eastern Finland from one year back, by 11.4 per cent. The fall in prices was smallest in Northern Finland, 2.4 per cent.
  • Transactions of old one-dwelling houses decreased most in Greater Helsinki and large towns. The numbers of transactions decreased most moderately in municipalities of under 20,000 inhabitants.
  • Prices of one-dwelling house plots fell by nearly 12 per cent in municipalities with under 20,000 inhabitants. In larger municipalities prices fell only by a few per cent.
  • Prices of new one-dwelling houses rose by 2.0 per cent in 2023.
