Real estate maintenance costs decreased by 0.9 per cent in October to December 2023
According to Statistics Finland, real estate maintenance costs went down by 0.9 per cent in the last quarter of 2023 compared to the corresponding period of 2022. Of the cost items of real estate maintenance, the costs of waste management grew most, by 8.4 per cent. The costs of electricity fell by 26.3 per cent.

Only costs of residential blocks of flats rose
Examined by type of building, the maintenance costs of residential blocks of flats rose by 2.5 per cent. The maintenance costs of industrial buildings went down by 6.7 per cent, those of office buildings by 3.7 per cent, those of wholesale and retail trade buildings by 5.0 per cent, the costs of day care centres by 0.3 per cent, those of school buildings by 0.9 per cent and those of health care centres by 1.3 per cent from one year back.
The total index of real estate maintenance fell by 0.7 per cent from the previous quarter.
Real estate tax and plot rent are not included in the index of real estate maintenance costs 2015=100.
