Gross domestic product grew by 0.3 per cent in April to June 2024

According to Statistics Finland, the volume of Finland’s gross domestic product grew in April to June 2024 by 0.3 per cent from the level of the previous quarter. Adjusted for working days, GDP was 1.2 per cent lower than one year previously. According to preliminary data compiled by Eurostat, GDP in the EU area grew by 0.3 per cent in April to June 2024 from the previous quarter.

  • In April to June 2024, the volume of exports increased by 8.1 per cent from the level of the previous quarter. The volume of imports went up by 1.1 per cent.
  • Private consumption declined by 1.1 per cent in April to June 2024 from the level in January to March.
  • Government consumption expenditure increased by 1.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2024 from the level in January to March.
  • Gross fixed capital formation, or investments, contracted in the second quarter of 2024 by 2.1 per cent from the previous quarter. Private investments contracted but public sector investments increased.
