Volume of goods transported by lorries decreased 11 per cent in the second quarter of 2024

release | Goods transport by road 2024, 2nd quarterAccording to Statistics Finland, a total of 59 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in domestic road transport in the second quarter of 2024. Compared to the previous year, the volume of transported goods decreased by 11 %. The transport performance decreased by 13 % and was 6.5 billion tonne-kilometers.

- The share of transported soil materials made up 31 per cent of the volume of goods transported in road transport and 9 per cent of the transport performance during the second quarter of 2024.
- Of the goods transported, 58 per cent were transported by full-trailer combination trucks, 19 per cent by semi-trailer trucks and 23 % by trucks without a trailer.
- Of the transport volume, 95 per cent was transported in professional transport and five per cent in private transport.
