A total of 1.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in July 2024

According to Statistics Finland, altogether 1.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in July 2024. The total number of passengers increased by 8 per cent compared to July 2023. The number of passengers on domestic flights decreased by one per cent while the number of passengers on international flights increased by 10 per cent from the previous year.

Nearly 90 per cent of air traffic passengers travelled on international flights in July

In July 2024, a total of 1.6 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport and altogether 150,000 passengers flew through other domestic airports. Compared to July 2023, the total number of passengers was 9 per cent higher at Helsinki Airport and 2 per cent higher at other domestic airports.

Eighty-nine per cent of the air traffic passengers travelled on international flights and 11 per cent on domestic flights in July 2024. The share of passengers on international flights was 94 per cent at Helsinki Airport and 40 per cent in total at other domestic airports. Of all passengers, 95 per cent travelled on scheduled flights.

In July 2024, air freight and mail transport totalled 15,584 tonnes. In all, one hundred per cent of the tonnes were transported through Helsinki Airport and 99 per cent in traffic between Finland and foreign countries. Altogether 7,276 tonnes (47 %) of the transported volume of goods were incoming and 8,308 tonnes (53 %) were outgoing.

During January to July in 2024, a total of 11 million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 5 per cent more than in the same period in 2023. From the beginning of 2024, the volume of freight and mail transport totalled 107,000 tonnes, which was 7 per cent more than in January to July 2023.
