Volume of goods transported by lorries decreased by 10 per cent in the third quarter of 2025

Transport and tourismAccording to Statistics Finland, a total of 54 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in domestic road transport in the third quarter of 2025. The volume of goods transported decreased by 10 per cent compared to the previous year. The transport performance decreased by 12 per cent and totalled 6 billion tonne-kilometres.

- In the third quarter of 2025, the volume of goods transported in domestic road transport decreased by 6 million tonnes compared to the same period of the previous year.
- The volume of soil material transport decreased by 1 per cent, while other transport decreased by 14 per cent. Soil materials accounted for 33 per cent of the total volume of goods transported.
- Of the goods transported, 57 per cent was carried by full trailer combinations, 14 per cent by semi-trailer combinations and 29 per cent by trucks without trailers.
- 97 per cent of the transport performance was carried out in licensed transport and 3 per cent in private transport.
