Leisure trips in Finland and abroad decreased by one quarter in February 2025

According to Statistics Finland, around 1.0 million domestic leisure trips with overnight stay and 0.4 million leisure trips abroad were made in February 2025. The number of both domestic leisure trips and leisure trips abroad decreased by one quarter from the previous year.

Key selections

  • The decrease in the number of domestic leisure trips was due to a decline in the number of trips with free accommodation. In February 2025, around 0.6 million such trips were made, which is good one third fewer than one year earlier.
  • The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was 0.3 million, which is one fifth fewer than one year earlier. One in five of these trips were package tours.
  • Around 2.8 million overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded in Finland and 2.7 million abroad in February 2025. The number of overnight stays decreased significantly from the previous year.
  • Good 0.1 million domestic business trips with overnight stay were made, which is one tenth fewer than in February 2024.
