Leisure trips in Finland and abroad decreased by one quarter in March 2025

According to Statistics Finland, around 1.4 million domestic leisure trips with overnight stay and 0.5 million leisure trips abroad were made in March 2025. The number of both domestic leisure trips and leisure trips abroad decreased by one quarter from the previous year.

Key selections

  • In March 2025, the number of domestic leisure trips with paid accommodation was 0.5 million and that of trips with free accommodation 0.9 million. The number of trips declined from the previous year in both types of accommodation.
  • The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was 0.4 million, which is one fifth fewer than one year earlier. One in five of these trips were package tours.
  • Altogether 4.1 million overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded in Finland and 5.1 million abroad in March 2025.
  • In all, 0.2 million domestic business trips with overnight stay were made, which is almost one fifth more than in the previous year.
