Leisure trips abroad increased and domestic trips decreased in April 2025

According to Statistics Finland, around 0.6 million leisure trips abroad were made in April 2025, which is nearly one tenth more than in the corresponding period of the year before. The number of domestic leisure trips with overnight stay decreased by one tenth and was around 1.5 million in April 2025.

  • The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was nearly 0.5 million in April 2025, which is one fifth more than one year earlier. One in five of these trips were package tours.
  • The decrease in the number of domestic leisure trips was due to a decline in the number of trips with free accommodation. Around 1.1 million of these trips were made, which is good one tenth fewer than one year earlier.
  • The number of domestic leisure trips with paid accommodation was unchanged from the year before and was around 0.5 million.
  • Altogether 5.0 million overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded in Finland and 3.5 million abroad in April 2025.
  • Around 0.2 million domestic business trips with overnight stay were made, which is slightly more than in the year before.
